Position: full sun Soil: well-drained neutral to alkaline soil Rate of growth: average to fast Flowering period: May to June Hardiness: fully hardy A beautifully variegated, evergreen thyme, ‘Sparkling Bright’ has an upright habit whose aromatic leaves are green with a white margin. Small, pink flowers festoon the spreading plant in summer, attracting all manner of pollinating insects. Great for gravel gardens, patio pots, or the rock garden, ensure the ground conditions are not excessively wet during the winter as this perennial herb prefers well-drained conditions. Garden care: After flowering cut back hard using garden shears to retain a neat compact shape. If this is done promptly after flowering the plant will often flower again towards the autumn. Lift and divide large clumps in early spring.
