An auricula perennial primula with gold margin burgundy flowers . Position: partial shade Soil: rich, moist but well drained Rate of growth: average Flowering period: late winter to spring Hardiness: fully hardy Popularised by the Victorians who displayed them with much pride in ‘auricula theatres’, this modern variety has all the old world charm, but slightly larger flowers in shades of dark red, scarlet and near-black, edged with gold and silver ‘lace’. ‘Gold-laced Group’ can be used to edge a springtime border where it will complement early risers such as Pulmonaria, hellebore, and winter aconite. Garden care: Divide large clumps after the plant has flowered, preferably during a wet spell.
