Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: humus-rich, moisture retentive soil Rate of growth: fast Flowering Period: July to August Hardiness: fully hardy A vigorous, spreading perennial with purple-flushed, dark green leaves producing a rich perfume of oil of orange when split open. Dense spikes of tubular, mauve-pink flowers appear in late summer. Perfect for use as a culinary herb or as a flavouring for summer drinks and cocktails! Garden care: When plants have finished flowering in summer, cut flowered shoots back to 5cm (2in) above the surface of the compost. Mint is vigorous in the garden so restrict excessive growth by planting it in a large pot and keeping it well watered.
