A deep pink coloured biennial. Position: full sun Soil: fertile, well-drained soil Rate of growth: average Hardiness: fully hardy (but short-lived) Vibrant, vivacious rose pink flowers persist for months on end from June to October, held above felty, silvery foliage. A perfect border filler and unsurprisingly, winner of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, its plentiful blooms are also a popular destination for pollinating insects. A short-lived perennial, that happily self-seeds, some ‘editing’ may be required! Growing instructions: Surface sow indoors onto moist well-drained seed compost from Feb to May. Light is needed for germination so ensure seeds have contact with soil, but are not covered. Germination takes 10-20 days at 20°C. Once large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 9cm pots. Acclimatise and plant out once risk of frost has passed. Sow direct in late spring or early summer. Sow and overwinter indoors from September to November for spring planting the following year. Sow: February to May or September to November (under glass), or April to June (direct) Flowering: June to October
