An orange and red flowering herbaceous perennial foxglove. Position: full sun or partial shade Soil: moist, humus-rich soil Rate of growth: average to fast-growing Flowering period: June to July Hardiness: frost hardy (may need some winter protection) Get reliable, and annual, tropical coloured blooms with this semi-evergreen perennial foxglove. Outwardly facing, raspberry and peach, funnel-shaped throats will occupy a whole hive of bees in the middle to back of borders. The basal rosette of leaves gives rise in the first year to the funky foxglove flower spikes, and onwards in sunny or partially shaded garden areas unlikely to completely dry out. More compact than most foxgloves, this hybrid form is perfect for town or cottage garden pots, too! Garden care: Ensure that the soil is kept moist in summer. After flowering cut back the flowered spikes to encourage more sideshoots. In milder areas apply a generous 5-7cm mulch in autumn to protect the roots from the cold. Alternatively, grow it in a pot and over-winter it in a cool greenhouse.
